On behalf our client, an international industrial logistics company, we are looking for a dynamic, ambitious and well-organized Overland Manager. The position is permanently placed either in Athens or Thessaloniki but will spend time in both places equally.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• With respect to the Operational the eligible candidate will need to:
o Act according to the regional work instructions and organizational catalog of competence
o Structure the departments by building teams responsible for specific geographical areas, key accounts and niches
o Agree on operational and financial targets with each team (GP) and follow up systematically
o Define focus trade lanes and agree on a joint trade lane development with the respective partner country
o Elaborate and follow up on a joint target customer list in collaboration with sales. Nurture new business developments and maintain the existing ones. Ensure that accurate data is included into the business tenders
o Lead overland’s Greece participation in centrally managed tenders. Develop and maintain relationship with company’s overland teams in Europe
o Broaden overland’s carrier base by sourcing additional carriers in Greece and Eastern Europe
o Act as carrier manager for Greek carriers operating for other European stations
o Run regular tenders on existing FTL volumes
o Take responsibility for the employees’ professional training, replacement (in case of absence), overtimes, staff rotation, holidays, etc., making sure the working environment is pleasant and motivating

• With respect to the Management: the eligible candidate will need to:
o Analyze monthly the overland results and prepare reports for direct and functional supervisors
o Compile the overland profit & loss (P/L) statement. Develop the budget and follow up on it according to company’s requirements
o Be responsible for the timely collection of receivables in collaboration with the financial department
o Be responsible for implementing company’s standards and excellence operational activities
o Motivate and develop the team. Drive and manage the department in order to get the optimal profitability
o Negotiate prices and conclude the business contracts
o Ensure that the operating procedures are properly fulfilled
o Handle the official complaints and claims until they are resolved

CANDIDATE PROFILE
The eligible candidate must have:
• Bachelor’s and Postgraduate degree in International Commerce / Logistics or a similar field
• Strong background in international road freight forwarding
• At least 3 years of experience in managing a team
• Basic knowledge about GDP / GXP compliant pharmacy logistics operation
• Willingness to travel throughout Greece and Europe
• Fluency in English language, written and spoken

• Be results-oriented and possess strong customer focus, fair commercial acumen and excellent problem solving skills
• Honor their promises and show zero tolerance towards non-ethical manners
• Hold strong organizational capabilities, be methodical with strong analytical and convergence skills
• Be a people motivator and a respectful leader who would not resort to over-control and micromanagement
• Be very good with numbers; extensive logs modeling is highly desirable
• Be self-driven, proactive and capable to work as a team member
• Be tenacious, open and straight forward in their communication
